About CYPROHEPTADINE SYRUP

Cyproheptadine Syrup is an anti-allergic formulation which is indicated for treatment of hay fever, as preventive measure for migraine, and for cyclical vomiting syndrome. It belongs to first generation antihistamine drug class and is highly appreciated for having up to 99% of protein binding ability. Upon ingestion, this syrup gets metabolized in liver with help of CYP3A4 enzymes with elimination half life of about 8.6 hours. Active compound cyproheptadine present in this medicine has molecular formula C21H21N with molar mass of 287.398 g/mol. Cyproheptadine Syrup is also said to have anticholinergic and antidopaminergic properties and is said to be potent 5-HT2 receptors antagonist.
